    I’m reaching out to highlight the urgent need to reduce food loss and waste in Canada.


    Current estimates indicate that nearly half of all food produced in Canada is lost or wasted. A significant portion of this waste is preventable and could be redistributed. This issue is not only a moral and social concern but also an economic one, amounting to an estimated $58 billion in annual losses, generating 77 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (comparable to the emissions of the entire province of British Columbia), and representing enough food to feed 17 million people.
